Nino Theys is a Sound Artist / Performer from Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean.
In 2022 he moved to Berlin, bringing with him his sound practice and inspirations of Drone, Soundscapes and Maloya of where he is from. Since then, he has been developing a distinctive sonic language, that questions the very concepts of Performer / Instrument, exploring the space in which the two merge, interact, and redefine one another.

Working primarily with hardware and modular synthesisers, his performances and compositions seek to grant agency to machines, an attempt to bring life to what is commonly perceived as non-living. At the edges of ambient, experimental, and noise music, Nino’s sound is driven by an obsession with repetition, silence and slowness, sometimes pushing these ideas to absurd extremes.

Aspiring toward tactile sonic forms and embodied listening experiences, his practice frequently brought him to work with various medium, and to collaborate with light, visual, and multimedia artists, resulting in immersive and singular performance setups where sound can be seen, and visuals heard.
